Tier 2 Auditions

Directors, please read the following instructions carefully before submitting your students’ auditions for Tier 2 Solo & Ensemble.

The students performing and the repertoire piece to be video recorded and submitted through this DropBox link should be the same performers and repertoire piece that was performed at the live Tier 1 site back on January 15th.  No substitution of performers or changing of repertoire is permitted between Tier 1 and Tier 2.  Accompaniments for soloists must be live accompaniments for the video performance.  Pre-recorded accompaniments are not acceptable for Tier 2 video submissions.

Since the video performances are intended to be viewed anonymously, do not have your students narrate or introduce themselves or their piece at the beginning of the video.  Also, on stage tuning is not appropriate for the beginning of the videos.  Either tune off stage prior to entering or wait to turn on the video until after the tuning is completed.

When registering your Tier 2 entry please use the Tier 2 entry code (example… D24Flute7) from the spreadsheet of eligible Tier 2 entries that was emailed to you from Jeff Quamo as the name for the entry.  When uploading your files please be sure that your video files are in mp4 format and your music score files are in pdf format.  Prior to uploading your files please RENAME your files to match your assigned Tier 2 Entry Code.  For example: D56FemaleVocal5.mp4 & D56FemaleVocal5.pdf would be acceptable names for the files to be uploadedThe folder that you should select to upload your video and pdf of the music score should correlate with your Tier 2 entry code.  For example, a violin duo with an entry code of “D14Violin8” should not be loaded into the “Mixed String Ensemble” folder.

Step by step instructions:

  1. These auditions are meant to be blind, so begin by renaming all files on your computer to their Director’s Entry Code (see above).
  2. Click on the appropriate link below which will open up a Dropbox file request in a new tab.
  3. Make sure you are not logged into Dropbox in your internet browser. Look in the top right hand corner of the Dropbox file request. It should say Sign In (don’t do it though). If you see your name, click on it and Sign Out. If you are logged in to your account when you upload your files, they will automatically be tagged with your name. The festival chairperson will then have to manually rename your files in order to make the audition blind.
  4. Choose the file(s) for ONE entry at a time from your computer.
  5. Very Important: When asked for your First Name, Last Name, and Email Address…
    1. First Name: Director – the files will be tagged with this
    2. Last Name: Director’s Entry Code – the files will be tagged with this
    3. Email Address: your actual email address – only used for an email confirmation
